Obviously everyone knows that sand will stop a round. For this set of tests what we wanted to see if it was possible to determine visually how far in a round went into the sand. Of course, its hard to get a block of sand to stand up by itself if it’s not wet. And if it is wet it becomes a different substance in itself. Instead we devised a jig and used several layers of saran wrap that would not add anything to the ballistic properties of sand itself and would interfere the least to the outcome of this test.
