The armory continues to grow and I am excited about the way it is shaping up. As a result, I’ve added a couple of new features to the armory this week.

Embedded Firearms Links

We’ve all been there; you’re looking for information on a new firearm that you’re interested in buying and google drops you off in some forum (THR is always good). In a certain regard, StoppingPower was started as a result of me trying many searches like that. I wanted to find info on:

Specs - What cartridge does it take? What guns are comparable to this one? What’s the barrel length? How much does it weigh?

Pictures - How’s it look? What finishes are available?

Videos - Are there any videos showing this gun in action?

Etc…

I’d end up scanning forum upon forum, and end up the “answer” after all that research. Embedded firearm links are my answer to some of that research. If someone wants to post to a forum discussing their firearm, it would be so much handier to just embed a link (via html supplied by the Armory) to the Armory page for that firearm. For example, for one of the AR-15 pistols you could put in:

Or if you’re a derringer guy (maybe for SASS) you could embed this:

Hopefully it’ll be easy to figure out, as it essentially follows the youtube model.

According to the Small Arms Survey, an independent research group based in Geneva, Finland has 45 guns to every 100 people. That estimate gives Finland the fourth highest civilian gun ownership levels in the world. he government says there are too many guns in Finland and estimates its legislation would cut the number of gun licenses issued in half.Hand guns were used in all three mass shootings in Finland. It is no coincidence then that the biggest change to the countrys gun laws would be the age at which you can get a license to own one.Critics point out that the gunman responsible for Finlands second school shooting was 22, so the new law would have made little difference

Holy crap! I really just can’t believe the type of thing that seems to occur frequently in the eastern US states. Well, I guess that’s really be either coasts (we all know California is as bad as Massachusetts). But the police think they have the right to determine when the danger has passed? WTF?

On a snowy Christmas Eve a few years ago, Raymond E. Woollard was watching television with his family when he heard someone tapping at the windows of his Baltimore County farmhouse.

It was not Santa.

At the sound of breaking glass, Woollard dashed to his bedroom for a shotgun, and the holiday evening quickly became one of the most frightening nights of his life.

There was a hand-to-hand struggle for the weapon, but Woollard, with help from his adult son, eventually subdued the 6-foot-2, 155-pound intruder at gunpoint. Then they waited for more than an hour for police to find their way, on icy back roads, to the home, about 25 miles south of the Pennsylvania border.

That night made Woollard a crime victim for the first time in his life and also one of a select few Maryland residents to receive a license to carry a concealed handgun. But to Woollard’s surprise, Maryland State Police denied his request last year to renew the permit, saying they thought the danger to his life had passed.

According to the new laws, Garner said the State of Georgia is now the sole authority for regulating guns and knives in Georgia, except for federal laws. Counties and municipalities can prohibit discharging a gun within its limits, but no other laws can be made that supersede state law.

Another change to the law is that gun registration is not required to own one, Garner said. The Moultrie Police Department will allow someone to register a gun, but the main benefit of registration is the information will be available if it is stolen. Garner offered another solution besides registering a gun.

Ammo Box Label PDFsIf you have a touch of O.C.D. like I do, you like to keep a clean shop, but your notes in well-organized binders, and you also feel compelled to have neat-and-tidy ammo box labels for your handloaded ammo.

The tiny labels that come with jacketed bullets (in the box of bullets) are OK if you can write in 4 point sized letters, but for the rest of us, more space is needed. I decided to create labels on my PC using Avery 2″ x 4″ sticky back labels (I have some Avery 8163 labels, many more options in this size are available).
