The Table was created to record the various outcomes from shooting things. There's plenty of information out regarding stopping power that is based on statistics and calculations. That information is great, it's fun to debate over beer, but for us visual learners out there it's nice to see actual outcomes from shooting things.
Motivation and Purpose
There are plenty of sites out there that focus on the technical information related to shooting and various cartridge effects. And I think that those sites certainly have a place, and you will see that type of information at stoppingpower.info.
But, a lot of time that doesn't provide a very good "feel" for the actual outcomes. Ben Franklin said "Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn." (see quote source). So we do some testing, and put the results up on the web to answer questions for ourselves, and anyone else that might be interested. We don't take large sample sizes and try to set up experiments, but we're happy enough to share what we've found out so far.
Site Organization
Each of the targets has a entry on this page. Click on the label of the box to find out information on a particular target. All of the videos for each target are collected together and presented on this page. Of course you can hit the various cartridge information (e.g. 9mm, .357Magnum, .308, etc.)
I've also collected gun information that I was interested in , or think might be relevant to this site, and organized that. Likewise, the links section of the site contains some of the best shooting web sites on the internet.
News for the site is generally presented on the blog and you can sign up for the RSS feed to see when we're getting ready for a new target test. If you're into RSS, we also have the various feeds that tell when I change information on this site and you can keep updated that way too.
